21st Annual
Florida Invitational Step Show
"There Can Only Be One"
Saturday, February 20
Stephen C. O'Connell Center
7:oo p.m.
One of the largest student-run step show productions in the southeast, the 21st Annual Florida Invitational Step Show, better known as FISS. The Florida Invitational Step Show is a step competition between nine organizations that make up the National Pan Hellenic council (NPHC). The mission of the step show is to celebrate the legacy of leadership and scholarship among fraternities and sororities of the NPHC, but more importantly, to support our chosen charitable cause each year. In past years, the show has supported the Keep a Child Alive Foundation, an organization committed to saving orphans in Africa whose parents died from AIDS, Clifford Cole Memorial Scholarship fund, an organization created to support children’s schooling and academic facilities in Sierra Leone, Boys & Girls Club of America, and Reichert House. This year, FISS will focus on service to the local Gainesville community, through its support of the Boys and Girls Club of America.
FISS embraces the accomplishments of these NPHC organizations by hosting a show that features the historical and traditional phenomenon of “stepping” that is associated with the Black Greek Letter Organizations. The five major events for FISS weekend include: Future Fair, Kids Day, Reclaiming the Set (The FISS Weekend Kick Off), Greek Fest, and the Step Show. With every year, the University of Florida plays host to thousands of guests that come from out of town and from right here in Gainesville to attend this event. tter known as FISS.
