of Africa: African Dance Workshop Hosted by African Student Union & Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Location TBA, 6:30pm In the continent of Africa, dance has always been a way of expression.
Stories have been passed down through many generations, with movements that
exemplify hope, pain and love. We plan to share these traditions during our
event. Our main focus is to educate the public about West African dance; how it
is a remedy to the body, how it showcases tradition and how it tells a story.
We plan to focus on the history of African dance and show how it influences
modern day American and Caribbean dance.
